Aternately: A touch down.
Not really, I guess, but it’s interesting decompressing and realizing how much stuff I need to get done. I freely admit, I’m procrastinating something fierce right now, trying to avoid actually working on anything productive. Bah. How … normal.
Anyway, EclipseCon was great. I hope I’ll be able to make it again next year, although I doubt it, since next year I’ll be schooling full-time, and I don’t expect I’ll be in the same position to ask for favours from work. Still, one never knows.
Wow. I’d never have believed it, given the fairly-sedentary nature of a software Con, but this is bloody tiring.
I’m bone-tired, mentally-exhausted, and nicely sated with knowledge and networking. It’s been a great time. The wind-down, today, results in a shorter day (ends at 5 PM, instead of at 10:00) although that just means that I’m likely to end up dodging out to dinner with some of the people from the Foundation and from IBM that I’ve met.
Anyway, it’s been worth it. Now, of course, when I get home I have a metric ton of catching up to do. School, work, bugs, issues, a sick girlfriend, an irritating cat…
I miss it
So…
Work, in their infinite generosity, has deigned to send me — all expenses paid, no less — to Eclipse Con 2006 down in Santa Clara, California. I’m flying out March 19th and back March 24th, and expect to have an amazing time — very educational, very enjoyable stuff.
I’ve been a big fan of Eclipse for a long time, now. It’s a phenomenal development tool that has made it easier and faster to write good Java code. I’m looking forward to learning a whole lot more than I know now about how to maximize our use of it.
Did I mention that I love my job?
